Elder Eugenia Jackson-Smith, affectionately known as “Jeannie” was born in Brooklyn, New York and is eldest of four girls. She is married to her supportive and loving husband, Elder Michael Smith, who is extremely proud of his wife’s loyal dedication and commitment to God, her family and God’s people to sincerely minister His Word by way of preaching and singing.
Her interest in music began at the tender age of eight while attending the Saint Joseph Baptist Church's morning worship service in Birmingham, Alabama. She was so mesmerized by the vocal skills of the pastor’s daughter that she would find herself attempting to emulate her techniques both, during church service and when she returned home with any object in her hand that could be used as a microphone. Her fascination to sing various genre of music grew but God had another plan. While attending Jacksonville State University from 1983-1985, she heard the call of God to totally surrender her life to Him. However, it would not be until 1986 that she would capitulate to His authority. While sharing the good news of her new relationship with Christ to a friend, Jeannie heard God say, “Preach my Word.” Her apprehension to preach the Gospel continued for another 12 years, at which time, she fully surrendered her will to God’s will. In the music industry the anointing in Jeannie's life has rapidly increased her musical talent and afforded her the opportunity to work alongside and/or record with many gospel artists, renown songwriters and producers such as, The Abundant Life Music Ministry, H & H Productions Recording Studio/Chip Records, V.I.P (Victory in Praise) Music Ministry, Ms. Belinda George Peoples and Company, the GMWA Choir (Boston Chapter) and the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB) Gospel Choir. It was during her participation with the UAB Gospel Choir that she was featured on Bobby Jones Gospel Videos singing, "Magnify Him" in 1997. She was afforded the opportunity in December 2005 to record with the gospel group The Levitical Priesthool (Compton, California). In February 2006 she was featured as on of several lead vocalist during a live record with "The Levites" under the direction of Minister Gregory Brown. And in March 2006 God favored her once again to participate in a New Artist Showcase where Dr. Bobby Jones of Bobby Jones Gospel served as Master of Ceremony. It was here where she and the group she formed, "Prophetic Voices of Praise" won fifth place out of 20 or more groups which worshiped God that evening. Jeannie's gifts have been enlarged by her humility and God-given ability which is why He has blessed her to become a much sought after preacher and psalmist.
On June 10, 1998 she received her Minister’s License from the Apostolic Overcoming Holy (A.O.H.) Theological Seminary/Christian School. A few years later, God charged Minister Jeannie to study and go before the Board of Bishops to obtain her Elder's License. And on June 10, 2006 she was licensed and ordained by the National Executive Board of Bishops of the Apostolic Overcoming Holy Church of God, Incorporated to walk in the office of Elder. Presently, she serves as Co-Pastor of the City of Refuge Church of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. under the leadership of her husband, Pastor (Elder) Michael Smith. And the both of them serve under the leadership of Bishop Dwight Dove, Senior Bishop of the Morning Star Fellowship Assemblies (Brooklyn, New York). Currently, she is in the process of recording her first CD Single entitled "Greater" which will be comprised of three songs God blessed her to write. It is scheduled to be released sometime in 2016.
